Two Drifters

I have been reading a couple of books about software engineering lately, notably "Dreaming in code" by Scott Rosenberg. Having already managed and been involved in a couple of software projects I recognize that it's not me – it's the software. It actually is one of the hardest professions there is, despite (or perhaps because of) software being "soft" – ware and not hardware.

Dreaming in code is about developing Chandler and the obstacles and many setbacks the team encountered in doing so. It frequently refers to a book by an IBM Veteran, "The mythical man month". Which prominently sports the all-too-true statement that you cannot simply hurl more personnel at your code to speed up development. It will even be slowed down at first!
